Balai Pemuda Surabaya, located at Jl. Gubernur Suryo No. 15, is a historic city landmark where cultural legacy meets youthful vibrance. I visited just a few hours ago, and although some exterior renovations are still underway, the interior buzzed with creative energy. It functions both as a cultural and tourism information hub and a lively space for young creatives—where history connects with today’s vibrant generation.

Surabaya Old Town is more than the story of a port city’s origin—it is a multicultural crossroads once home to diverse communities from around the world. It was also the stage for key events that sparked the Battle of November 10, 1945, earning Surabaya the title City of Heroes. Today, it stands as the cultural heart of the city, a living museum shaped by the spirit of nationhood, heritage, and heroism—where the past continues to shape Surabaya’s identity.

Jalan Tunjungan is a historic commercial street in Surabaya, lined with banks, electronics stores, and shopping centers. In 2021, it was officially launched as a cultural tourism destination called “Tunjungan Romansa,” inspired by Yogyakarta’s Malioboro Street. The area now features culinary stalls run by local MSMEs, along with regular performances of art and cultural entertainment—reviving the street’s charm for both locals and visitors.
