Pasar Bawah, or "Under Market", is one of the most famous tourist spots in Pekanbaru that everyone visiting the city must spend time visiting. Located right next of Siak river and very close to the port, this iconic location with its unique feature that combines Chinese and local style in its architecture is easily accessible from all parts of the city. In here you can find a large variety of items to browse and purchase both local and imported goods, such as various Chinese ceramics, Middle Eastern rugs, or second-hand electronic items from Singapore and Malaysia (there are plenty of great deals to have if you just know where to look!) You can also purchase various local foods and snacks such as lempuk durian, ikan salai, dodol kedondong, and many others.
